Christina Campbell is constantly led privy to the secrets of the universe by her son Jasper. Watching him upon his arrival she began to notice his needs could be met a lot easier and more efficiently than with the primary colored plastic waterfalls emanting from the big box stores. The irony that children were being exploited abroad as companies used their small hands to produce goods for children here at home was not lost on her. The thought of her child missing out on his much cherished explorations, curiosity and play for a metal factory incited action. Coo de Tot's kid-centric ethos shows in how its' products help kids day to day AND how it helps free kids on the other side of the globe to be kids. She has a diverse past including writing articles on indigenous pre and perinatal practices in the South Pacific to producing ethnographic film on child labor-free textiles in Turkey.
Katey Gilligan is an entrepreneur and mama with a decidedly intense, community-centric, philanthropic vision. She brings her mission and extensive retail acumen to us via a unique collaboration between AustinMama.com and the Coo de Tot Coalition, a growing alliance of vendors founded by Gilligan. Inspired by years of work abroad, and even more so by becoming a mother, Katey's vision of empowering women through commerce, support and connection is deeply woven into her various projects -- from her own local business, GaGa Mondo (specializing in imported designer infant apparel and accessories), to the founding of Entrepreneuse (a support and networking organization for Austin's women-owned businesses), to the creation of the Coo de Tot Coalition, to fair-trade and worldwide import/export projects in the works. As Coo de Tot, LLC CEO and Austinmama.com Marketplace Coordinator, Katey is driving design, direction and growth of the 'apparel and accessories for little hipsters' marketplace.
